The “Redistribution” of Wealth

The “Redistribution” of Wealth

Mr. Obama is one smooth speaker and he has carefully crafted his words and speeches to the point that it’s hard to figure out what he’s really saying. His first harmful slip came with Joe the Plumber when he told him he wanted to make it fair for everyone and redistribute the wealth. His campaign worked feverishly to claim it wasn’t what it sounded like, socialism. Then came the transcript from 2001, same man, same theme.....Obama is heard telling Chicago's public station WBEZ-FM in 2001 that "redistributive change" is needed, pointing to what he regarded as a failure of the U.S. Supreme Court under Chief Justice Earl Warren in its rulings on civil rights issues in the 1960s.

But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it's been interpreted, and the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can't do to you. Says what the federal government can't do to you, but doesn't say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.

And that hasn't shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court-focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that.

Get the picture??? It’s pretty clear what Mr. Obama thinks about redistribution of wealth isn’t it? It’s economic justice! What about his comments about the Constitution? I find them particularly disturbing! Those “essential constraints,” as he calls them, were put there to keep tyrants from destroying our government and the government from taking control over every aspect of life. The entire purpose of the Constitution was to limit government and to maintain a balance of power within the government. It is a great concern to think that a man who feels this way about our Constitution and has strong views, that seem to indicate a leaning towards socialism, could actually be president.

Sound the alarm! Be informed, look beyond the rhetoric and talking points to what the candidates really believe and stand for. Remember “A man is known by the company he keeps”....Ayers, Khalidi, Resko, Olinski, Wright....to name a few.

I would be wrong to stop there, however, because I’m reminded that I’m a pilgrim here....this is not really my home. It is my responsibility to be informed and to vote, but always with the idea of eternity in mind. In our eternal home, now that’s where we can really talk about “Redistribution of Wealth.” As a follower of Christ, I am a co-heir with Him, all of His riches are mine. (Gal 4:7, Romans 8:14-17) We don’t need to be a afraid, we know who wins in the final event, and until that time we know the ONE who is “able to keep (us) from falling and to present (us) before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the ONLY God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

Thank you for this view of "the ONLY God our Savior,"
and to Him alone "glory, majesty, power and authority, through JESUS CHRIST our LORD, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen."
AMEN.
This is a time when it is so easy to look at man ...
And even as we must be responsible members of society, and know the issues at hand, we must,
We Must,
WE MUST
More than this, look at
THE MAN.
Otherwise, our hearts shall seize us with fear.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses..."
Those who have gone before and suffered in and for JESUS' Name...
"Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on JESUS, the author and perfecter of our faith..."
"So that you will not grow weary and lose heart."- Hebrews 12

"'...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."'-words of whom?
KING JESUS,
Ruler of the kings and presidents of men.

Thank you for this post.

I have some very close family who are Christians who are supporting Obama - and they either tell me these are not true, or what he said isn't what he meant.

If it's not true - then who did say those things? If it's not what he meant, than how many other 'promises' has he said that he doesn't mean?

It really saddens me to hear and see so many Christians who are duped by his high status and charisma.

I wonder what you may think of Jon Piper's commentary - that I cite in this post earlier.

Thank you again. ~Blessings!

With these quotes, perhaps a 6 year old is not so far off as some might think! Thank you for your insight and research. We can all benefit from it.

Hello iam4JESUS,
i am too. And also, i am my man's rib. May I be so bold as to address your post? If your close family knows JESUS our LORD ... and they vote for Obama ... and he does indeed show himself to be of the darkness ... JESUS CHRIST will yet lead your loved ones home and keep them safe in His fold. And if that be the case, they will see the TRUTH, and the One who is THE TRUTH will forgive. This vote is not the unpardonable sin. They will have made a mistake-- but GOD rules the kings of men. It is He that sets up and deposes. A mistaken vote is NOT a transgression that leads any soul to hell. And in the midst of it all, GOD has a plan-- and that plan that He has is, will be accomplished for His glory.

Every WORD OF GOD is TRUE.
Every promise He will do.
And that, even concerning the end times.
I encourage you to speak to your loved ones often and purely of JESUS CHRIST. Keep them talking of JESUS CHRIST. In the midst of all of this national havoc, we must continue to lay hold of JESUS CHRIST. And trust Him to hold us in every endeavor.
1 Thessalonians 5 says: "May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. The ONE who calls you is faithful and He will do it." That is a promise.
And then, also, you must be willing to stand in the gap and "vote your conscience" as a man before GOD, no matter what others do. Even those you love and who love you.
And hand those beloveds back to GOD, again and again... and trust.
And stand ... stand ... stand. And never give up.
And stand.

ps. The Piper article was indeed excellent.

Good morning, im4Jesus.
I am very distressed over the number of people who are following this man without really paying attention to what he says (or doesn't say)or who he is. I do feel, based on the authority of Scripture, that there are those who can be so smooth and eloquent that "even the elect can be deceived." This may be the case here. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone so airbrushed and polished in their style and charisma. The real problem, though, may be in our inability or refusal, as a people in general, to want to think. It's hard to understand why more of us are not putting the pieces of who Obama really is together.

My consolation is in the Sovereignty of God. His plans can not be thwarted; EVERYTHING happens in conformity with the purpose of His will. If Obama is elected, I can rest knowing that it is His plan for our country now. My Hope is in the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth, not in any man.

I had read the Piper article and thought he had a good way of putting our responsibility to vote into words. This is not our true home; yes, we have a responsiblity to vote, but our lives do not ultimately depend on the outcome. Our lives our in the hands of our loving God, who provided the means of redemption through His own, One and Only, Son.

Charlene & Holly...(is that correct?) :)

Thank you both for your strong supportive words of encouragement.

Trust that I am not weary or even "fearful" of the times we are in. I trust the Lord God - King of all Kings in all things. My salvation and redemption does not lie in the events and circumstances that surround me or even the world...as well, those who become deceived.

While - I can understand the ideology of this plan, and actually can see how people think it’s a good idea…
I mean - it’s charity. And isn’t that similar to what Jesus would have us do? He did tell the rich young ruler to “Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor”. Luke 18:18-23

And, of course we are to have the same attitude of Christ

The difference, I believe, with Jesus’ teaching and Obama’s teaching on giving to the poor is that Jesus wants us to sell it all and give it away ourselves out of compassion - not compulsion.

Being taxed to give to the poor is not compassion…

To help the poor is a noble cause. To help those in need is admirable…and yes, as Christians we are supposed to. But we are supposed to because we love Christ - not because the government says so.

As always however, my prayers and faith are in Christ. My trust is in Him. My salvation is in Him.

Psalm 146

Also - thanks for reading my blogspot...I hope to see you there more. :)

His idea of redistribution has little to do with the charity of Jesus and the community of sharing enjoyed by the new believers in Acts, but as he calls it, "economic justice" and in his interview with Charlie Gibson, being "fair." Interesting, too, is that as I watched the news tonight, the income threshold for tax breaks may have been lowered from $250k to $120k.

I'm so glad to see that as a young man and father of young children, you are thinking through these issues Biblically. My prayer is that more believers would do the same.

God's blessing to you and your precious family.
